Ms. Maritza Soto, 7th Gr. Assistant Principal
Dear Seventh Grade Families and Students,
Welcome back to Irwin Altman Middle school for the 2022-23 academic school year!
As many of you already know from last year, I was the Assistant Principal for sixth grade and am looking forward to continuing the partnership with all families and students in this cohort over the course of the next two years. This is my eighth year as an Assistant Principal at Middle School 172 in District 26 and I am so grateful to work with such amazing families and students within this school community. For those of you who are new to the school community, I am also a mother of two daughters. My oldest is starting her sophomore year in college and my youngest is also starting seventh grade in a new school district.
During the 2021-22 school year, I was so impressed by how students and families were able to persevere through all the challenges and transitions of Middle School alongside the post-pandemic procedures. I know seventh grade will pose its own challenges, but I along with our seventh grade team will be here to support you every step of the way! I hold my steadfast belief that, “It takes a village to raise a child” and will continue the goal of ensuring a supportive social-emotional learning environment that provides every individual child an opportunity to flourish to their highest potential. Together we will make this an amazing school year!
