Ms. Kristin Devine, 7th Gr. Assistant Principal
Dear Seventh Grade Families and Students,
I would like to welcome you back to Irwin Altman Middle School 172 for the 2021-2022 academic year. It was a pleasure meeting so many of you this past May and June, when I joined the M.S. 172 community. Before arriving at Irwin Altman Middle School, I was a teacher leader at I.S. 93 Ridgewood in District 24. During my time at I.S. 93 I was a science teacher and a math teacher. I also had many administrative responsibilities in my teacher leader role. In addition to my work at I.S. 93, I have also been a staff developer on a NYCDOE Title I STEM Grant, and a middle school science specialist at the Genovesi Environmental Study Center.
I am also the mother of three children. My daughter is starting seventh grade, my son is starting third grade, and my youngest son is starting first grade. During this past year and a half, I have had the experience of teaching remotely and in person, parenting children who have attended school in person and remotely, and have joined the Class of 2023 as your assistant principal. These experiences have been both challenging and rewarding. I am so impressed by how you have persevered through this pandemic and the challenges it has brought. I am also aware that we have a lot of work ahead of us and the transition back to full in person learning may be exciting and scary at the same time. I, along with the seventh-grade team and support staff, look forward to supporting all of you in whatever academic or social-emotional needs may arise this year. Together we will make this an amazing school year!
